Every song is different. Sometimes you need the broad strokes of bar-by-bar harmony while other times each beat provides a unique chord. You can even make fine-grained time selections to view how chords change as notes are included or excluded.
Passing tones, melodic lines, or band sections getting in the way? No problem, you can exclude individual notes, single tracks, or entire instrument families. It's easy to isolate the chord you want inside a complex arrangement.
Click any chord to set the playhead at that position. As you play, the selected chord updates based on what you hear in realtime. When you hear that incredible harmony, just pause the song to inspect the chord and its notes.
Need to work with a lot of tracks? Hide the pianos and chord panels to tuck them out of the way. Keyboard and mouse shortcuts let you zoom in both directions, select, navigate, and group tracks for easy bulk control.
With live chord detection you see the chords and notes for everything you play on a connected MIDI device. The piano and chord panel views allow you to compare live playing with chords from a reference song.
Get StartedIf you suggest enough features maybe I can offer some paid tiers 😍
The perfect way to get started and to continue 🤣
There will always be a free tier. If I build enough features maybe there will be paid tiers as well.
No. Chord Factory might look kind of like a DAW, but it's an analysis tool. You can't edit the music.
I use it to 1) detect chords from my live playing and 2) to study scores like these amazing ones from John Williams (http://johnwilliams.free.fr/midi.php?critere=film&lang=us). You can use it for whatever you want!
Send me an email at alan@chordfactory.com and I'll see what I can do. The free tier has no official support but I'd like to make sure things are generally working.
There are so many amazing tools on the market but none of them are focused on chord recognition. For my own studies, I need a tool where chords are first-class citizens.
